Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television journalist, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). The following year, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. Beginning in 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988, she became chief congressional reporter. She was made chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell was the host and panelist for the TV news show Meet the Press. She was a member of an audience for the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell was awarded the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) presented Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both Ronald Reagan's terms as President. The reporting she did included plenty of significant stories, including the Iran-contra scandal, the budget and tax reform in addition to the issue of arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively with the president Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
